Following the modest success of 3 Roses Season 1 on Aha, the makers return with 3 Roses – Season 2, a four-episode sequel that attempts to blend friendship, ambition and dark comedy within a contemporary urban setting. Featuring Eesha Rebba, Raashi Singh and Kushitha Kallapu in the lead roles, the series sets out to explore personal dilemmas alongside professional struggles but only partially succeeds.

Story

Rithika alias Ritu (Eesha Rebba), Meghana (Raashi Singh) and Srishti (Kushitha Kallapu) continue to live together while running a newly launched advertising agency. Meghana hides her divorce from her family, Srishti experiments with dating and casual relationships, and Ritu navigates unresolved emotional baggage from her past.

As the trio struggles to secure a breakthrough project, Prasad (Harsha Chemudu), who shares a past connection with Ritu, offers them a lucrative gold jewellery campaign. What appears to be an opportunity soon brings unexpected complications. What challenges do they face? What truth do they discover about Prasad? And how do these experiences test their friendship? These questions form the core of Season 2.

Performances

Eesha Rebba once again delivers a composed and confident performance, lending credibility to Ritu’s emotional conflicts. Raashi Singh holds her ground well, though her character deserved more narrative depth. Kushitha Kallapu, as Srishti, brings a bubbly energy to the series; while some of her “nibbi” antics generate humour, they fail to consistently connect with the audience.

Satya is effective in his trademark comic space and manages to extract laughs with ease. Harsha Chemudu performs convincingly, balancing humour and intrigue. Prabhas Sreenu’s dark comedy works in parts, particularly in select situational sequences.

Strengths

The series scores in its initial character introductions and background setups, which are engaging and easy to follow. The camaraderie between the three women and their hustle to build a startup add a relatable urban flavour. A party-centric episode stands out, offering some effective comedy and ending with a twist that successfully builds curiosity for subsequent episodes.

Drawbacks

Despite introducing several new and returning characters, the writing fails to fully utilise them. Ritu and Meghana’s arcs feel underdeveloped, lacking emotional expansion. Srishti’s actions often feel repetitive and superficial, reducing her overall impact.

Certain subplots particularly involving Manu’s character slow down the narrative and add to the sense of lag. The dark comedy occasionally feels excessive, and sharper humour could have elevated key sequences, especially in the party episode. Editing could have been tighter to maintain pace.

Technical Aspects

Director Kiran K Karavalla shows control over tone, especially while balancing situational and dark humour, though a few scenes needed stronger focus. Shakthi Aravind’s cinematography is neat and functional. Ajay Arasada’s music is adequate without being memorable. Vijay Mukthavarapu’s editing could have been crisper, particularly in the latter half. Production values remain decent throughout.

Verdict

3 Roses – Season 2 works as a light, time-pass comedy drama with moments of genuine entertainment. The lead actresses perform well, and the supporting cast adds occasional humour. However, uneven writing, underutilised characters and pacing issues prevent the series from reaching its full potential. Viewers who enjoy casual comedy-driven web series may give this a one-time watch.
