During their ongoing tour of England, the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams were extended a special invitation by King Charles III. The British monarch hosted the teams at the historic St. James’s Palace in London, where he warmly welcomed the players, coaching staff, and BCCI officials.
Indian men’s team captain Shubman Gill, women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with other team members and support staff, were present at the royal reception. King Charles greeted each guest individually, exchanging handshakes and engaging in light-hearted conversations with a smile.
In a brief yet candid interaction, the King reportedly expressed his disappointment over India’s narrow loss in the recent Lord’s Test, particularly the fall of the final wicket that sealed the match. His words reflected both keen interest and a warm appreciation for the sport and its players.
