Telangana: The BJP-led Central Government has once again drawn sharp criticism from Telangana for allegedly discriminating against the state in infrastructure development. In a move seen as politically motivated, the Centre granted approval to the Pune Metro expansion project while continuing to ignore the much-needed Hyderabad Metro Phase-2.
Despite the Telangana government submitting the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase-2 over a year ago, there has been no response or action from the Union Government. This prolonged silence has fueled public outrage and accusations of deliberate neglect.
Adding to the discontent, the latest Union Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday reportedly made no mention of the Hyderabad Metro expansion. The absence of any discussion on this critical urban mobility project has left many questioning the effectiveness and commitment of Union Ministers representing Telangana, who have been accused of remaining silent and passive on issues concerning their own state.
People across Telangana are voicing concerns that the Centre is deliberately stalling development projects in non-BJP ruled states. Many believe the approval process is being politicized, with development benefits extended selectively to states where the BJP holds power.
“If the BJP is not in power in Telangana, does that mean the people here don’t deserve infrastructure or growth?” asked a frustrated citizen, echoing a sentiment that is gaining ground across the state.
As the wait for Hyderabad Metro Phase-2 drags on, the perceived bias from the Centre is intensifying political tensions and deepening regional grievances, with many urging Telangana’s Union ministers to break their silence and take a stand for the state.
