Cinima: “I made a mistake marrying him against my mother’s wishes”: Anita

Bollywood:

Over the years, many star heroines who once ruled the Telugu film industry have stepped away from the limelight. Some chose marital bliss over movie sets, embracing personal life over professional commitments. One such actress, once hailed as a top heroine in Tollywood, has now taken a backseat from cinema—but her emotional reflections have once again brought her into the public eye.

She was once a sought-after actress in Telugu cinema, delivering back-to-back hits and winning hearts with her charm and screen presence. Today, although distanced from films, she continues to enjoy her family life. Interestingly, she claims her beauty has only grown over time. But recently, she made headlines again with her candid remarks about her past love life and a relationship that, in hindsight, she regrets.

The actress in question is Anita Hassanandani, who made her Telugu debut in 2001 with director Teja’s Nuvvu Nenu, opposite Uday Kiran. The film was a sensational hit and is still remembered as a cult romantic classic. Anita’s performance was widely appreciated, and she soon became a youth icon and a dream girl for many Telugu fans. She later acted with Uday Kiran again in Sreeram and continued to work with other stars like Tarun.

Apart from her film career, Anita also made a mark on television, where she gained immense popularity. Now, industry buzz suggests she may be entering the Bigg Boss house, adding more excitement to her comeback.

In a recent interview, Anita opened up about her past relationship with Bollywood actor Eijaz Khan. Their love story lasted for several years before the two eventually parted ways. Speaking candidly, Anita said:

“One of the most significant relationships in my life was with Eijaz. I went against my mother’s wishes to be with him. Since he belonged to a different religion—he’s Muslim and I’m Hindu—my mother was not supportive of our relationship. He never rejected me outright, but he was always visibly anxious. Over time, the relationship couldn’t sustain. What I didn’t realize then, but understand now, is this: if someone tries to change who you are, that’s not love.”

“I was blindly in love. I was willing to completely change myself for him. But that relationship ended up causing me a lot of pain. It took me a whole year to recover emotionally. I felt incredibly lonely. It’s important to never be with someone who wants to mold you into someone else.”

“Always keep an eye on their phone. If someone hides their phone from you, there’s definitely something wrong. And most importantly, never let anyone isolate you from your family and friends.”

Anita eventually found her true partner in corporate professional Rohit Reddy, whom she married in a beautiful ceremony in Goa on October 14, 2013.

Though away from the silver screen, Anita continues to shine—this time not just with her beauty, but with her strength, honesty, and the courage to speak her truth.
