APpolitics: “Stop Transfer? Touch the MLA’s Feet or Pay 1 Lakh..?

Chandragiri, Andhra Pradesh:

A fresh controversy has erupted in Chandragiri constituency with allegations surfacing against local Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA  who is being accused of misusing his political influence to orchestrate transfers of government employees on political grounds.

According to the aggrieved parties, a village secretariat employee was arbitrarily transferred merely on the suspicion of being a supporter of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The situation escalated further when the victim’s husband alleged that his wife, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) posted at the Kuppam secretariat, was also forcibly transferred to a remote location without any valid reason — again, allegedly due to suspicions about her political affiliations.

“The officials told us that the only way to stop the transfer is either to plead with the MLA by literally falling at his feet or to pay a bribe of ₹1 lakh,” claimed the distraught husband, describing the emotional and financial distress faced by the family.

He further alleged that Secretariat staff are being subjected to mental harassment in the name of transfers, under the MLA’s protection. “There is a clear pattern of intimidation and misuse of authority. Employees are being punished without evidence, simply for perceived political sympathies,” he added.

These developments have raised serious concerns about administrative neutrality and political interference in public service operations. Opposition leaders are likely to seize on the issue in the coming days, demanding accountability and intervention from higher authorities.
